Durham, NC Weekend Seminar

2-DAY HANDSTAND SEMINAR

WITH YURI MARMERSTEIN

NOVEMBER 6-7, 2021

Join Yuri Marmerstein at vyb studio for a 2-Day Handstand Seminar! Participants will receive 6 hours per day of training and instruction from Yuri. It is open to anyone of any background and level of ability. As long as you’re open to learning, improving and potentially being an awkward beginner then you can benefit from this seminar. More details below!

WEEKEND OVERVIEW

NOVEMBER 6-7, 2021

SATURDAY

10am-1pm: Handstand Fundamentals/Beginner Handstands

3pm-6pm: Flexibility, Recovery

SUNDAY
10am-1pm: Intermediate/Advanced Handstands
3pm-6pm: Strength, Mobility, Recovery

Note that while the beginner/fundamental session focuses on basics, this is where Yuri offers more theory and teaching cues so these classes can also be useful for instructors. Likewise, even though the intermediate/advanced classes have a recommended skill prerequisite, beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend. The skills may be beyond their level, but they will have a different experience working the scaled down versions and observing the higher level students while listening to the theory.

The goal of this seminar is to help refine and give new insights for skills students are working on, as well as expose them to new skills and concepts. Students are able to modify the training to their preferences to make more or less physically demanding. You can learn a lot from listening to and observing the class, as well. All of the skills and concepts that will be discussed are learned over a long term. There is no expectation for a student to “learn” or “master” their handstand over the weekend, and neither should they (though it is common to see marked improvement). It’s better to think of this weekend as not learning the handstand, but learning more about handstands to apply that knowledge into one’s personal practice.
